About the Opportunity

Diabetes Australia now has an opportunity for a Senior Program Manager to join their NDSS Delivery Team on a full-time, contract basis until June 30th, 2020. This role will ideally be based in Canberra, however there is an option to be based out of the Brisbane office if required.

Reporting to the National Program Director, this pivotal role will be responsible for ensuring the Diabetes in Schools Program ($6 million initiative over 2 years) is delivered on time and within budget, in accordance with the program plan and program governance arrangements.

More specifically, you will play a critical role in supporting the Program Director in planning, designing and implementing the program. This will include:

  • Program planning, including the development of the program work plan;
  • Program plan execution, including proactively monitoring the program's progress, and resolving issues / initiating appropriate corrective action;
  • Risk management, including risk planning, identification and analysis;
  • Procurement management, including the development of tender documents to procure services from third party providers, managing third party consultants and contributors to the program, and administering contracts;
  • Communications management, including planning, information distribution, progress and performance reporting, and stakeholder communications activities; and
  • Cost management, including budgeting, and monitoring expenditure and costs as the program progresses.

Please Note: This role will involve regular domestic travel for stakeholder engagement (typically same day trips).

About You

Diabetes Australia is seeking candidates with demonstrated experience in program management, coupled with a strong track record of delivering complex projects. This will ensure you possess strong knowledge of planning, implementing and monitoring programs successfully. Experience within the not-for-profit and/or educational health sector will be highly regarded.

Due to the nature of the role, the successful candidate will have financial acumen and technical skills, including working knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation, report writing and tender documentation. Your ability to keep the ball rolling and ensure deliverables are being met will be critical to your success.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills will be essential, as you be involved in complex stakeholder relationships across multiple jurisdictions. Experience in managing competing stakeholder expectations will be highly beneficial in this role. Although this is an autonomous position requiring strong initiative, it is also crucial you be skilled at working collaboratively with third parties to achieve results.
