Orange Aboriginal Medical Service (OAMS) is a community owned and operated organisation that has been successfully providing medical & primary health care services to the diverse Orange community since February 2005.

OAMS is a well regarded, innovative and dynamic leader in its field with a commitment to providing a quality medical and primary health care service that results in improved quality whole of life for Aboriginal people. OAMS has a very strong focus on holistic care, shown in that its Clinical Service team is targeted to meet 20 patients per day.

 

About the Opportunity

With 50% growth in the last 18 months, Orange Aboriginal Medical Service (OAMS) now has an opportunity for a Vocational Registered General Practitioner to help expand their service offering in Orange, NSW. Ideally, this role is being offered on a full-time basis, however part-time arrangements would be negotiable for the right person.

Along with a team of clinical specialists and Allied Health professionals, you will be providing comprehensive, primary health care services to the local community, including a mix of Indigenous and non-Indigenous clients.

OAMS is also a teaching practice, so as part of your role you will be encouraged to provide supervision and training to GP Registrars or medical students.

This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to improving health outcomes for a number of Indigenous communities throughout NSW. 

Who are we looking for?

To be considered for this position you will need to demonstrate/hold the following:

  • Vocational Registration as a General Practitioner
  • Demonstrated general practice / primary health care experience
  • Knowledge of MBS claiming
  • Competent to manage emergencies in a regional setting
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture; and
  • Proven ability to communicate and work effectively with Aboriginal people
