About the Opportunity

Fairtrade ANZ now has an exciting opportunity for Communications and Digital Officer to join their Melbourne, VIC or Auckland, NZ team on a full-time basis.

Reporting to the Digital Communications and NZ Marketing Manager, and working closely with members of the Marketing & Community Engagement team across the Australian and New Zealand offices, your main responsibility will be to create clear, consistent, and compelling messaging about Fairtrade. 

You will also support the development and maintenance of Fairtrade's presence and voice as well as building reach and engagement through the application of best practice and data-based decision-making.

In addition, you will support the management of the Fairtrade website, campaign microsites, blogs, e-newsletters, and amplifying Fairtrade's messages and campaigns ensuring the effectiveness and appropriateness of communications. 

More specifically, your day-to-day duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • Storytelling for the organisation including writing and/or editing communications material (including leaflets, posters, campaign materials, etc);
  • Proactively working with colleagues across Fairtrade's ANZ websites, based on digital trends, internal/external analysis, campaigns, and stakeholder requirements;
  • Liaising with external content producers as required to ensure the necessary quantity of quality and interrelated content is available for use across all channels in keeping with internal content strategy;
  • Regularly monitoring website and social media performance to collate information on performance and producing statistical reports using a variety of analytics tools to report, track, and measure activity with performance metrics and benchmarks;
  • Suggesting and implementing solutions to improve content and conversion in relation to the website;
  • Supporting the Digital Communications and NZ Marketing Manager to monitor, adjust, and administer Pay Per Click campaigns across platforms such as Google AdWords and Facebook Adverts manager; and
  • Monitoring and analysing competitor digital activity, evaluating areas of learning and making recommendations for improvement.

Do you have what it takes to join the Fairtrade team?

To be considered for this position, you must have a proven track record in writing, editing, proofing, and production of high quality, creative, compelling, and effective print and digital materials for a public audience.

While not essential, a tertiary qualification in Journalism, Mass Communications, and/or Marketing will be held in high regard.

You will also have demonstrated experience in writing for web pages, with the ability to communicate human stories and translate complex information and ideas into simple digital content in an accessible and compelling way.

A good working knowledge and technical understanding of digital platforms (including Google AdWords, Falcon, and/or Hubspot) and trends within digital marketing will be crucial to your success in this role. As will a basic understanding of user experience principles and best practice, strong analytical skills, and inquisitive thinking.

In addition, you will have self-drive, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and truly love creating engaging, quality content.
