About the Family Violence Child Protection Partnership 

The 2015-16 State Budget committed $17.57 million in funding over five years to the Child Protection Flexible Responses Initiative. The initiative, now known as Family Violence Child Protection Partnership, co-locates 17 Specialist Family Violence Workers in Child Protection offices across the State and aims to strengthen Child Protection practice, enable joint assessments, and assist Child Protection to navigate the family violence system while strengthening opportunities to divert children away from statutory responses.

About the Opportunity

Quantum Support Services is now seeking a full-time Child Protection Practitioner (Domestic & Family Violence) to join their Children, Youth and Family Services team. This position will spend approximately 4 days per week based at the DHHS Morwell office working from the Child Protection Unit and the other day at the Quantum Support Service's office, also based in Morwell. There will be regular travel required around the Gippsland area, including to Melbourne CBD for training and team meetings.

Reporting to the Quantum Practice Leader (Family Violence), this position will see you providing advice to Child Protection Practitioners and their Managers who undertake investigations of families where a child is, or may be, in need of protection due to family violence. 

This position will operate at both strategic and operational levels. Your strategic focus will involve supporting the development of more integrated service response by Child Protection and family violence services. Your operational focus will occur through direct engagement with activities and tasks associated with child protection investigations. 

Through co-location at a Child Protection office, the position aims to strengthen and improve responses to families subject to a Child Protection investigation.

About You

To be considered for this position you will hold a minimum of a Diploma in Community Development, Human Services or related and have up to three years demonstrated experience as a family violence supervisor or practitioner, with some of this experience gained within the past 12 months. 

Key to your success in this role will be your willingness and ability to engage with, and build trusting relationships with, key stakeholders at both DHHS and Quantum. You will demonstrate initiative and confidence in chasing work and influencing systemic change and you will be a proven communicator who can have challenging conversations if and when required to get the best case outcomes. 

This role would be well suited to a Family Violence Counsellor or Practitioner with a solid understanding of the Child Protection system, who is looking to move into an advisory/supervisory position. 

A current open Driver's License is a mandatory requirement for this position.
