About the Roles

PolicyWise currently has two exciting opportunities for Research & Evaluation Associates to join their team in either Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta for a 12-month temporary contract with the possibility of renewal or extension. 

Reporting to a Project Manager, you will contribute to ongoing research and evaluation projects conducted by PolicyWise. This includes supporting the strategic development of the projects and collecting, analyzing and synthesizing data.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Understanding information privacy, ethics, and data security policies and procedures
  • Supporting the development of program/project management approach for the projects and/or corresponding evaluation frameworks and implementation plans if needed
  • Supporting the development of appropriate research and evaluation designs and effective data collection procedures including identifying data sources and appropriate data elements from research partners
  • Supporting the development of project-specific work plans and methods of measuring progress
  • Supporting the project manager to schedule project related meetings and provide logical supports including scheduling, preparing meeting agendas, minute taking, booking space and other assistance as required
  • Supporting Project Leads and Project Managers in ensuring project reporting requirements and accountabilities are met
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and synthesizing relevant literature for the projects to inform project development and interpretation of results
  • Collaborating with project team and stakeholders to ensure the timeliness of data synthesis and reporting
  • Offering insights into the implications of information for policy and service delivery
  • Supporting the project team on project details, resolving stakeholder concerns, and developing innovative ways to inform policy and practice
  • Working with project team to develop and implement knowledge mobilization strategies for the project results to reach stakeholders in a timely and effective manner

Above all, you will work collaboratively with PolicyWise staff on projects and assist with the maintenance of ongoing relationships with project stakeholders to ensure successful completion of the projects. You will also support the presentation of project results at events on behalf of the PolicyWise that align with project objectives and support achievement of those objectives.

About You

In order to qualify for this role, you will have a Master’s degree in a health, social science or other related disciplines (e.g., social work or public health) with a minimum of 2 years of related work experience, including experience working with multi-stakeholder groups and providing support services. 

You must also have a good understanding of research and evaluation processes and methods and of research ethics

You will also possess:

  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • The ability to prioritize and adapt to changing tasks and requirements throughout the day
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • A strong work ethic and sense of accountability
  • The ability to take initiative and work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Demonstrated general computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience with data analysis and data analysis software (e.g., NVivo, SPSS)
