About the Opportunity

AANNT currently has an excellent opportunity for a full-time Apprenticeships Field Officer to join their team based in Katherine, NT on a full-time basis until 30/06/2019 with the prospect of renewal subject to the extension of funding.

Reporting directly to the Australian Apprenticeships Support Network (AASN) Manager and Assistant Manager, you will primarily be responsible for conducting sign-ups and field visits of Apprentices and their Employers in line with the ASSN Contract. This role will see you delivering services across a significant area in the Territory, from Pine Creek down to the Barkly Highway, across from the Queensland border to the Western Australian border.

More specifically, your day to day duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • Undertaking Apprentice sign-ups, site visits, inspections of employer workplaces and case management;
  • Identifying and providing In-Training support to eligible Apprentices and Employers;
  • Visiting and monitoring Apprentices and Employers in urban, regional, rural and remote areas;
  • Promoting the Department of Education and Training & Department of Business Apprenticeships Incentives programs; and
  • Participating in marketing initiatives as directed, including visits to schools and other venues as required.

To be considered for this role, you must hold a current, unrestricted manual Australian Driver's Licence.

About You

To be successful in this role, you must possess a Certificate IV in Employment Services or experience in a relevant field (such as Vocational Education & Training). You must also possess a demonstrated understanding of the Australian Apprenticeships Support Network, with the experience necessary to market and sell skills services.

Significant and regular extended travel is a requirement of the role, two weeks out of six on average, across remote regions and great distances throughout the Northern Territory. Accordingly, you will be a motivated and organised professional with the commitment necessary to set, achieve and report on targets and progress semi-autonomously.

You will spend a large amount of time visiting remote communities, working alone and geographically isolated from the team and emergency support services - you must have a mature, patient demeanour with the confidence to independently deal with any emergencies in an appropriate and calm manner.

As you will be working with multiple stakeholders at various levels, from the community to government bodies, you must have the interpersonal and intercultural communication and negotiation skills required to effectively empathise and engage with diverse groups, including both informal and professional correspondence.

Please note: Before commencing, you must undertake a National Police Check and obtain a Working with Children (Ochre) card.
