About the Opportunity

EnviroBore currently has multiple opportunities for Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Locators/Crew Leads in Grande Prairie, AB.

In these hands-on roles, you will be responsible for steering out the driller on bores and managing the day to day operation of the crew in the field. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Steering the driller from entry to exit of the bore
  • Following any specific guidelines for the bore requested by engineers or the client 
  • Collaborating with the driller in regards to the next step of drilling
  • Tool changing on exit side when pilot is complete, watching exit side for flow, and communicating with driller to make calls based on the visual of exit side 
  • Completing Bore Profile (as-built) for client representative
  • Recording daily events in detail for input on the daily journals and completing daily journals
  • Acting as the first point of contact for the client and also with crew members
  • Communicating with the Operations Manager on a daily basis
  • Traveling to the next bore location, organizing the MOB, and setting up the plan for the drill and equipment
  • Gathering on-site paperwork for the office, managing all field tickets, and sending them to the office for invoicing

You will also be responsible for load securement of the truck and trailer unit, and completing all pre-trips, and managing the log book daily. All crew members are responsible for maintaining, re-stocking, cleaning equipment to that crew, and maintaining a clean work environment in the field.

Above all, you must comply with all safety policies, practices, procedures and legislative regulations as per EnviroBore's Safety Program. 

In order to qualify for these roles, you will have a minimum of 4 years of HDD locating experience. Due to the nature of this role, a valid Driver's License is required and you must have a clean driver's abstract. 

The following are considered assets:

  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Experience working with 8inch and larger pipe
  • Leadership for Safety Excellence training
  • Current Ground Disturbance Level 2 training
  • Current H2S training
  • Current First Aid training

Please note that support is available for candidates wishing to complete the above training. 

Above all, you must have strong decision-making skills, have the ability to maintain morale, and always work towards increasing efficiency while always practicing safe work.

Our ideal candidate resides in Grande Prairie, AB (or will be willing to relocate to the area) and has the flexibility to travel and work remotely for extended periods of time. If successful, you will be required to pass drug and alcohol screening tests before being permitted to work on-site.
