About the Opportunity
St Hedwig Village now has a fantastic opportunity for a part-time Pastoral Care Worker to join their team based in Blacktown, NSW.
You will be primarily responsible for providing emotional and spiritual support to the residents, their families and staff at St Hedwig Village.
Some of your duties will also include (but will not be limited to):
- Supporting and assisting new residents with their transition into care;
- Liaising with the Chaplain ensuring Communion and the Sacraments are available to residents when requested;
- Assisting at weekly Mass and conducting prayer services;
- Organising a variety of events centred around pastoral and spiritual care;
- Providing bereavement support to residents, families and staff; and
- Working with care and recreational staff in the delivery of a holistic care program for residents.
This is a part-time role, working 28 hours per week. Ideally, this will be spread over a 4 day, Monday-Thursday period, however alternative arrangements can be negotiated for the right person.
About You
To be considered in this role you must have previous Pastoral Care experience in an Aged Care setting and have completed at least one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education.
It is desired that you would be an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist or if you are not already it is a requirement of the role that you must be willing to obtain.
Importantly, you will demonstrate a firm commitment to the values held by the Catholic church.
You will need to be able to communicate with compassion and empathy and quickly establish relationships with the St Hedwig Village's residents and their families or carers.
