As a partner of the Nunavut Housing Corporation (NHC), The Cambridge Bay Housing Association (CBHA) works at the community level to provide day-to-day services associated with program delivery to individuals and families to provide fair access to a range of affordable housing options to families and individuals in Nunavut.

About the Opportunity

The Cambridge Bay Housing Association (CBHA) has an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Manager with exceptional technical, communication and leadership skills to join their team in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut.

Reporting to a local Board of Directors, and with support from the Nunavut Housing Corporation Kitikmeot District Office, you will lead a team of 8 to 20 workers to perform the overall maintenance, preventative maintenance, and renovations of approximately 276 units in public housing and staff housing.

Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising maintenance staff and assessing training needs
  • Identifying methods to reduce the amount of on-demand maintenance calls
  • Interacting with tenants and other interest groups on a day to day basis
  • Keeping proper records of all maintenance activities and contracts
  • Providing reporting as requested to NHC District office staff
  • Ensuring CBHA property and structures are maintained at an optimum level

In order to qualify for this role, you will have post-secondary education in a related field such as engineering, technology or a trade and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a management or supervisory role within the construction industry. Above all, you must be motivated and be able to take initiative to tackle a heavy demand for housing maintenance work.

You will also have experience with: 

  • Project budgeting and cost control
  • Maintenance management software
  • Inventory management and logistics
  • Contract administration and project management

Due to the nature of this role, you will be required to undergo a criminal background check. Additionally, a valid Class 5 Driver's License is essential. The ability to speak Inuinnaqtun is considered an asset but is not required.
