About the Opportunity

Berrigan now has opportunities for two proactive Civil Engineers - Infrastructure Design to join their Technical Services team on a full-time basis.

Immediate or January start dates are available for successful candidates.

Reporting to the Assets and Operations Manager, you will primarily be responsible for producing engineering design plans, contract specifications and documentation for Councils' infrastructure projects.

Your day to day responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Developing concept and strategic plans, including investigating, surveying, designing and preparing technical drawings for engineering works;
  • Liaising with Assets and Operations Manager to ensure that assigned projects are carried out efficiently and effectively;
  • Managing capital works design programs in order to meet construction target periods within budget or acceptable limits;
  • Initiating and preparing applications for funding to government departments in addition to arranging quotations and purchase of materials for works; and
  • Liaising with ratepayers, contractors, public authorities and Council staff in relation to Technical Services and works delivery.

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidates will be practically oriented communicators with the flexibility and adaptability to regularly shift between outdoor survey tasks with the workforce and indoor design work with council staff. This is a 'hands-on' role, so you will need to be comfortable taking on a project from start to finish, from the initial survey and scoping of the job right through to supervision of the construction - something most Design Engineers don't get the opportunity to do!

If you are a recent Graduate in Infrastructure design, we’d love to also hear from you as there will be other opportunities we can consider you for!

Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience and a good understanding of OH&S principles, alongside excellent intercultural and interpersonal communication and negotiation skills.

In addition, essential requirements to be considered are:

  • A Diploma/ Degree Qualification in Civil Engineering;
  • Demonstrated experience in civil/municipal engineering;
  • Proven use of AutoCAD, Autodesk & Civil 3D-2017, Autodesk Advanced Road Design, CivilCAD software or similar design packages.
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence

Post-graduate qualifications in civil/ municipal engineering and Project Management skills and experience will also be highly regarded.

About the Benefits

In return for your hard work and dedication, you will be rewarded with a highly attractive negotiable salary package, commensurate with your skills and experience, plus super and a work vehicle!

You will relish a 70 hour, 9 day fortnight, with flexibility in both your working hours and the timing of your fortnightly RDO. Your success will be further recognised with an annual performance related bonus. Relocation assistance is negotiable for the right person, making it a great opportunity for interstate candidates to apply.

Berrigan has a commitment to support the successful candidates with any further training and professional development wherever reasonable, including reimbursement of course fees and time off for coursework. Importantly, you will enjoy a supportive and flexible workplace where every day is different!

This is your opportunity to take on an exciting and challenging role with a vibrant Shire Council - Apply Now!
