It's an exciting time to join Hanson and Alex Fraser, with both businesses thriving and looking for new Trainee Drivers to become part of their teams.

This is a rare offering, for women who are seeking to get their foot in the door of the transport industry. Both businesses are taking part in a government funded, high quality heavy vehicle licensing program in order to encourage increased levels of gender diversity within their Driver workforce.

What does this opportunity include?

  • A four-week intensive Driver training course to obtain your Heavy Rigid License (for which you will be paid)
  • Immediate full-time employment as a Trainee Truck Driver
  • All uniforms and safety equipment provided
  • Female mentor support

All roles will initially be based at sites in the inner West of Melbourne, and the four-week course will take place in Laverton. More information regarding the companies and types of Driver positions will be provided during recruitment.

Is this the role for you?

No truck driving experience or truck licenses are required for this position, as full training will be provided. However, here is what you will need to be considered:

  • To have held an Australian Driver's License for a minimum of 2 years (automatic or manual)
  • To be willing to work early starts (typically 6:30am)
  • To be able to pass a pre-employment commercial driver medical which includes a drug test
  • To be able to meet the VicRoads criteria for licensing which includes signing a declaration about medication, interlock devices and outstanding fines or disqualifications

Strong communication skills and commitment to providing great customer service are also required, as is the ability to quickly pick up new systems and technology.

Please Note:

  • To be considered for these positions, you must be available to attend an assessment day on 7th November, medical screening 8th November, and to begin the course on 19th November.
  • The course is full-time and it is expected you enter the training period with the same commitment you have to full-time employment.
  • Candidates who already possess an HR License will not be eligible for this opportunity.
