About the Opportunity 

FormaShape is seeking an experienced leader to join their team in the position of Production Supervisor in Kelowna, BC for the afternoon shift (4pm - 2am).

Drawing on your leadership/mentoring expertise you will be responsible for managing the production output and employees on their assigned shifts. This will entail ensuring the safety and security of employees, upholding company policies, dealing with employee concerns, maintaining a positive working environment, and proactively monitoring work cell production with a focus on safe work procedures, operator efficiency, process adherence and achievement of quality. 

Specifically, duties will include:

  • Ensuring rigid adherence to safe work procedures including proper use of PPE.
  • Upholding company policies and reinforcing expectations through coaching, training, and disciplinary action when needed.
  • Assigning staff to work cells with the aim of producing quality parts as mandated by targets and monitoring employee performance.
  • Oversee the Lead Hands and production staff to maintain workflow, ensure tasks are performed, line is balanced to meet schedule attainment, and work process are being followed.
  • Resolve personnel problems by investigating issues and coordinating with Human Resources and the Union to identify solutions and recommend action.
  • Monitor and coordinate employees to ensure training needs are met and employee development is encouraged.
  • Supporting, administering and enforcing company policies including Safety, Lean Initiatives and Collective Agreement standards in a consistent and fair manner ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Ensuring Standard Work/Work Instructions/5S and QC criteria are followed and sustained.
  • Actively make recommendations using Lean Principles to improve methods/procedures in production, identify waste and opportunities for improvement to attain company goals and assisting employees to meet job expectations.

To qualify for this role you will have a minimum of 3 years of experience as a supervisor within a union environment in a similar field. Preference will be given to those with a college diploma in Industrial Engineering/Management or related field along with an understanding of the core basics of Lean Manufacturing

Our ideal candidate for this role will possess problem-solving skills related to waste elimination, production issues, production goals, and personnel matters. You will equally have demonstrated success in providing leadership in a production environment and will be an effective communicator with all levels of management and staff in both written and verbal form.

Our ideal candidate will be a hard-working and collaborative team player with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills and a strong attention to detail. You will have a strong customer service focus and are skilled in meeting deadlines. You are proficient using computers (MS Office) as well as reading and understanding drawings/blueprints.
