About the Organisation

Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation (Anyinginyi) is a multi-disciplinary organisation which provides primary health care services to the Aboriginal people of Tennant Creek and the surrounding Barkly region.

Anyinginyi consists of five different sections covering a wide array of services such as clinical care and social and emotional well being, health promotions, sports and active lifestyle and administrative services. This diversity allows for a holistic approach to health, ensuring that clients' physical and emotional health and well-being is given the utmost priority.

Anyinginyi health service delivery area stretches north of Tennant Creek to Elliott, across to the east, almost to the QLD border and south to Ali Curung - almost 150,000 square km.

About the Opportunity 

Anyinginyi has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Clinical Psychologist, Psychologist, Mental Health Social Worker or Occupational Therapist to join the Health Services team in Tennant Creek, Northern Territory as a Therapeutic Worker. This is a 1-2 year contract, renewable upon further funding.

Reporting to the Section Manager, Health Services, you will responsible for providing diagnosis and psychological treatment of mental, behavioural and emotional disorders for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities of the Barkly region.

More specifically, some of your key duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Providing evidence-based culturally appropriate interventions, including the management and assessment of psychological and behavioural health needs of individuals, groups and families;
  • Delivering a strengths-based service incorporating narrative, cognitive, solution-focused and community development approaches to vulnerable individuals and families, specifically individuals and families who have experienced longstanding and significant trauma, grief and loss, violence, suicide, family separation and breakdown, and substance abuse;
  • Organising and participating in clinical supervision to ensure therapeutic interventions to clients are continuously provided to expected high standards;
  • Developing Mental Health Care Plans for eligible clients facilitating the provision of coordinated clinical care and treatment for referred clients; and
  • Working within evaluation frameworks to monitor, assess and review the implementation and delivery of responsive models of treatment and care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait individuals and families, encompassing their overall social and emotional wellbeing.

Whilst the majority of service delivery will occur in Tennant Creek, occasional overnight travel to remote communities may be required, dependent on operational needs.

About You

To be successful in this role, you must be tertiary qualified and hold AHPRA registration as a Clinical Psychologist, Psychologist, Mental Health Social Worker or Occupational Therapist.

Anyinginyi is open to talking to appropriately qualified people of all experience levels, including recent graduates. The key factor in your success will be the alignment of your values and beliefs with those of Anyinginyi in order to support their mission. Previous experience delivering primary health care services within an Aboriginal community will be highly regarded but is not mandatory.

Please note: Prior to commencement you will need to undergo a National Police Clearance and obtain a current Ochre Card. A Driver's License and the ability to drive to communities as required is also essential for this role.

  • $70,000-$80,000 + super for Social Workers
  • $70,000-$85,000 + super for Occupational Therapists
  • $80,000-$90,000 + super for Registered Psychologists; and
  • $110,000-$120,000 + super for Clinical Psychologists
