About the Organization

Created in 2008 and privately held, Harmac Pacific Pulp operates a Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft pulp mill on the east coast of Vancouver Island near Nanaimo, BC. Nanaimo Forest Products (NFP) Ltd., the owner of the Harmac Pacific trademark, restarted the mill with a single production line on October 3, 2008. Since that time the mill has grown to two production lines and a capacity of 380,000 tonnes of world class pulp per year.

Key to the Harmac’s success is the employee ownership model. Our employees are very active participants in the running of the business and have 2 members that they appoint to the company’s 6 seats on its Board of Directors. 

The future of Harmac Pacific Pulp is looking bright. Through extensive capital investments, the organization has made significant improvements to productivity and reliability. In addition, as of 2013, instillation has been complete of a 25 MW Green Energy turbo-generator which we currently use to sell power to BC Hydro.

About the Opportunity

Harmac has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Spare Parts Coordinator to join our 380,000 tonne per year pulp mill in Nanaimo, BC

In this role, you will focus on the organization and maintenance of spare parts for the operation of our 380,000 tonne NBSK pulpmill and power generation business.

This will involve reconciling inventory to spare requirements, determining the requirements for spares, tracking and recording equipment that is rebuild and put back into inventory, and overseeing the warehousing of spare parts.

Our ideal candidate will have worked extensively with industrial spare parts for process industries with a background in power transmission and hydraulic parts. Pulp and paper experience will be considered a strong asset.

The successful candidate will work closely with our engineering and maintenance teams that focus on optimizing the repair and replacement of critical pieces of operating equipment. 

Our ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Team building and participation skills
  • A demonstrated aptitude for managing a spare parts inventory system
  • The ability to work independently and take initiative to address issues that will improve performance
  • Good judgment and confidence in applying knowledge of spare parts to solve mechanical maintenance problems.
  • Strong computer skills in purchasing and maintenance management systems
