About the Opportunity

Due to this ongoing growth and expansion, Fone Haus now has an exciting opportunity for a committed and driven Retail Operations Manager to join the Port Moresby team on a full-time, 3-year contract basis, with renewal likely for the right candidate.

Reporting to the NWTL Board of Directors and the Fone Haus General Manager, you will primarily be responsible for the overall management of all retail locations and staff activities in order to achieve income and profit targets.

Your day to day duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Effectively recruiting, inducting, training, managing, leading and developing Retail Store Managers, Supervisors and Sales Staff to agreed procedures and standards;
  • Providing inspiration, support and development opportunities for staff to grow their skills and sales achievements;
  • Maintaining effective communications with all stakeholders, from staff to middle management to the General Manager and Board of Directors;
  • Growing and developing a customer-focused commercial operation including new retail locations to maximise available assets, planning 3 to 6 months in advance;
  • Ensuring all retail locations are efficiently and effectively managed, including regular visits and compliance monitoring across policy, procedure and standards; and
  • Developing, implementing, reviewing and monitoring the retail operating plan and adherence to budget, including analysis of sales reports, inventory costs, operational expenses and inventory loss.

About You

To be considered for this role you must have demonstrated retail and people management skills with significant proven leadership experience in retail operations.

You will need excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills, with the confidence and adaptability to professionally present to the Board of Directors and General Manager in one moment and train and develop local staff.

Your collaborative, patient and outcome focused leadership style will be crucial to your success, as will your ability to understand the financial aspects of the business including budgeting, forecasting, cash management and operating budgets.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, disciplined and process centred, with the capability to work autonomously with minimal supervision in developing business processes to achieve organisational goals.
