About the Opportunity

Council now has a fantastic, newly created opportunity for a Project Engineer to join their Assets and Infrastructure Services Department. This is a full-time, Monday to Friday role, with a fortnightly RDO and occasional overtime and rostered Saturday work. 

Reporting to the Director - Assets and Infrastructure Services, this role is focused on the delivery of project management and contract management services across all functions of the Department, that align with Council's budget, objectives and complies with all relevant legislative Council requirements. 

Despite being a relatively small Council, there is a large budget circa $27 million allocated to capital works projects, a large portion of which is dedicated to Council's 300+ bridges, as well as roads and associated infrastructure. You will split your time approximately 60/40 between the office and being out in the field overseeing project work.

Some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Planning and programming capital works activities related to the functions of the Department;
  • Preparing contracts, tenders, project plans, estimates and job packages;
  • Assisting Councils Development Management Panel on technical issues as required;
  • Assisting in the delivery of contract road maintenance services on behalf of the Roads and Maritime Services; and
  • Contributing to the overall management of the organisation, as required.

About You

Our ideal candidate for this role will hold a Bachelors Degree or higher in Civil Engineering or related discipline, and have some demonstrated experience in a similar capacity with a focus on project management. 

However - Council is also open to speaking with candidates who hold Diploma level qualifications in engineering, providing they have extensive experience in this field.

You will need to have strong technical and reporting skills, with a working knowledge of civil engineering survey and design, and the ability to manage projects on time and within budget. Importantly, you will have the ability to interact tactfully and effectively with all levels of staff and the public while maintaining effective customer service and relationship management and to represent Council capably to customers.

This role would be well-suited to an early career Engineer who has a genuine interest in living and working in the Kyogle region and a desire to build and grow a career within a small, yet highly progressive, energetic and collaborative Council environment.

A competitive remuneration package is on offer circa $69,657-$80,709 + super, negotiable with skills and experience.
