About the Opportunity

BHS now has an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a driven and committed Nurse Unit Manager to join their growing Emergency Department at Ballarat Base Hospital on a full-time basis.

Reporting to the Director of Nursing, Access and Operations and working closely with the Director of Emergency, you will primarily be responsible for providing management, leadership and professional expertise to nursing and support staff working in the clinical unit/department.

Your day to day responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate and foster the provision of best practice standards of nursing care and service delivery that meets the needs of the patients/residents, their families and carers;
  • Planning for and managing an environment conducive to person-centred care which fosters a culture of consumer partnership and engagement;
  • Providing direction and consultation with unit based education and training, working collaboratively with key stakeholders to facilitate clinical skills acquisition and performance assessment; and
  • Establishing and maintaining professional affiliation and networks with both regional and metropolitan tertiary hospitals and speciality nursing professional bodies. 

About You

To be considered for this position you must be an AHPRA registered nurse with postgraduate Emergency Care/Emergency Nursing qualifications alongside demonstrated nursing management and clinical experience.

You will be confident in engaging and inspiring your staff, developing a dynamic and cohesive team culture that enables you to effectively work with a multidisciplinary team to achieve best-practice care in stressful and challenging situations.

BHS is looking for a passionate individual with the knowledge and ability to articulate contemporary issues influencing emergency health care while developing a dynamic and cohesive team culture. 

The ideal candidate will be an adaptable and flexible manager with the initiative to further their knowledge and the strategic mindset to lead and support cultural and organisational change to drive the future of the Emergency Department.

While not mandatory, candidates that have obtained or are working towards tertiary qualifications in Management or similar discipline will be highly regarded.
