About The Opportunity

Story Fresh is now looking for a methodical and proactive Crop Manager to join their team in Cambooya, South East Queensland, on a full-time basis.

Reporting to the Managing Director and Owners, you will primarily be responsible for all processes involved in the day-to-day growth, management and development of multiple operational crops year-round.

This role will see you working within a high-performance environment where you'll be implementing and monitoring strictly defined policies and procedures on a daily basis in order to uphold a culture of excellence.

Some of your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Controlling crop factors within crop growth cycles, from groundwork, seeding and irrigation through to the harvest and crop rotation;
  • Understanding, maintaining and deploying irrigation system solutions;
  • Responding to weather challenges, including forecasting expected outcomes and contingencies;
  • Operating diverse medium & heavy machinery including boom equipment, tractors, forklifts, powered implements and earthmoving equipment; and
  • Ensuring 100% compliance with all OH&S requirements.

The right candidate will be offered extensive training in Story Fresh's systems with a view to developing towards greater responsibilities and operational decision making.

About You

To be considered for this role you must possess a tertiary qualification in Agricultural Science or similar with demonstrated experience in growing horticultural crops. Extensive significant experience will be recognised in lieu of formal qualifications.

To be successful you'll need to combine your passion for growing plants with a strong technical understanding and procedurally oriented, quality-focused mindset. Your ability to expertly manage multiple competing demands will be crucial, as will your ability to effectively communicate your technical understanding amongst a multicultural team. 

The ideal candidate will have an excellent memory with the capacity to multi-task and prioritise, alongside a methodical, attention-to-detail approach in a high-pressure environment.

Practical experience in the use of multiple HP tractors and powered implements for land preparation is a necessity. While not mandatory, an MR, HR or HC Truck licence will be highly advantageous.

Please note: A current Forklift Licence and a current, unrestricted manual Australian Driver's Licence are requirements of the role. You will need to obtain a Chemcert before commencing - this may be provided for the right applicant. 

About the Benefits

This role is not for the faint of heart, with early starts, out-of-hours & regular weekend work in the peak season. In return for your hard work and dedication, you'll be rewarded with a competitive salary circa $60,000 - $80,000, commensurate with your skills and experience, plus super!
