The Opportunity

Mansfield Crushing now has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and energetic HR/OHS Manager to join their team on a full-time basis, working across their quarries in Melbourne, Geelong and regional Victoria.

As the HR/OHS Manager, you will be responsible for the effective leadership, management, delivery and improvements of all HR and OHS functions.

Your day to day duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Recruiting, selecting and inducting all new employees and contractors;
  • Providing guidance and assistance in managing employee performance;
  • Providing effective guidance, coaching and mentoring to all site personnel on effective OHS and Environmental work practices;
  • Assisting with identifying and implementing initiatives to improve HSEQ and HR systems including developing and implementing internal training programs;
  • Ensuring that all statutory and industry HSEQ requirements are being complied with on site, including performing internal HSEQ system compliance audits; and
  • Proactively managing all WorkCover claims.

While you will primarily be based in the west of Melbourne, at Little River, this role will see you travelling daily to different sites across greater Melbourne and Geelong, with some occasional overnight travel to regional Victoria.

About You

To be considered for this role you must hold tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or Occupational Health and Safety, with experience in HR/OHS within a blue-collar environment.

You will be an independent and assertive professional that is comfortable with regular travel, changing working conditions and the structure and workload prioritisation required to effectively navigate both.

Your flexibility and adaptability will be crucial to your success in negotiating multiple competing demands in a fast-paced, sometimes challenging environment.

As a key liaison across multiple layers of stakeholders, excellent intercultural communication and mediation skills will be required in order for you to effectively relate to both tradesmen and senior executives alike.

While not mandatory, the ideal candidate will have some experience and background in the quarry, mining or earthmoving/civil construction industries.

Please note: A current, unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence is a requirement of the role.
