About the Organisation

Lung Foundation Australia is a national, not-for-profit organisation based in Brisbane. Their vision is to ensure that lung health is a priority for all in Australia and to promote lung health by:

  • Educating the community in lung health and early detection of lung disease;
  • Reducing the burden of lung disease in the community through patient and carer support;
  • Influencing public policy, through advocacy across all levels of government; and
  • Raising funds for medical and scientific research.

The Lung Foundation Australia nationally employs about 25 professional/administrative staff, supported by a team of dedicated volunteers.

About the Opportunity

Lung Foundation Australia is now seeking an adaptable and resilient General Manager Development to join their dedicated team in on a full-time basis.

This is a new Executive Leadership position with seven direct reports that will be joining the recently established Sydney office, commencing in March 2019. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will primarily be responsible for developing and driving the diversification of Lung Foundation Australia's revenue streams, connecting with High Net Worth Individuals and raising awareness of Lung Foundation Australia around the country.

More specifically, some of your key duties will include (but not be limited to):

  • Supervising and empowering the fundraising team to achieve the Foundation's fundraising and development strategy;
  • Designing, developing, managing, evaluating and refining the fundraising strategy for all activities, events and projects including the setting of key deliverables including revenue generation;
  • Ensuring internal collaboration within the Foundation to embed within all teams our brand, marketing and communications strategies and promote consistency for all activities and projects;
  • Supervising the fundraising team to execute the donor relations program and ensure that exemplary donor care is maintained to achieve performance excellence and exceed expectations; and
  • Fostering and maintaining relationships with current and prospective key corporate partners with an emphasis on growth of non-pharmaceutical company partners

About You

To be considered for this role you must possess a relevant tertiary qualification in business, marketing/communications, philanthropy or similar, alongside demonstrated relevant industry and leadership experience, with NGO backgrounds very highly regarded. 

To be successful in this role you will require a highly developed understanding of philanthropy, marketing, communications and fundraising principles in the not-for-profit and for-profit sectors, in addition to the adaptability and resilience necessary to operate effectively in these sectors.

As a key point of liaison for a diverse range of stakeholders across the corporate field, other NGOs and government representatives, your highly developed interpersonal communication and negotiation skills will be crucial to your success.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of setting and driving the direction of their team in line with strategic plans, with significant leadership experience and a leadership style that is inclusive and outcomes-focused. 

Due to the nature of this role, it is imperative you be highly organised with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities to tight deadlines. Experience in Salesforce specifically or other cloud-based CRM generally will be highly advantageous.

Please note: This role will require the successful candidate to travel regularly in order to fulfil operational requirements for up to 2 weeks of every month. A current, unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence will be required, as will access to your own vehicle when in Sydney.
