About the Opportunity

St Hedwig Village now has a fantastic opportunity for a Maintenance/Handy Man to join their team based in Blacktown on a full-time basis, working 38 hours per week. 

You will be responsible for general repairs and routine maintenance across the Village as required.

Some of your duties will also include (but will not be limited to):

  • Performing regularly scheduled maintenance works as set out in the Maintenance Prevention Program;
  • Undertaking basic repairs to buildings, equipment and appliances such as replacing locks, bathroom fittings, globes and basic plumbing as required;
  • Preparing rooms for new admissions;
  • Cleaning windows, equipment and outdoor areas;
  • Participating in safe work practices in line with current WHS policies and procedures to minimise the risk of workplace injuries; and
  • Identifying major repairs or maintenance issues that would require a tradesperson.

About You

The successful candidate will be adept in performing basic electrical and plumbing repairs and maintenance as required. You must be competent using hand and power tools and demonstrate a level of fitness that will ensure you are able to fulfil the duties of the position effectively.

St Hedwig Village is looking for a friendly and considerate individual who displays genuine respect towards the elderly residents. Displaying a responsible and diligent work attitude will be essential to your success.

You must hold an unrestricted drivers licence. Moreover, an LR (light rigid) licence would be a distinct advantage. 

Please Note: The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Criminal History check and a physiotherapy assessment to ensure you can safely perform the duties required of this role
