About the Organization

K.N.W. Diesel Inc. was established in 1986 and is located in Surrey, British Columbia. We are the Scania Marine and Industrial dealer for the lower mainland. Our factory trained technicians work mostly on Cummins, Caterpillar and Detroit Diesel engines — but we will work on any diesel engine on or off-road, marine and industrial. Our focus is to diagnose, repair and overhaul Diesel engines across all industries.

We have a complete parts department offering genuine Detroit Diesel parts and aftermarket IPD and Interstate-Mcbee parts. Visit our machine shop and you will see that we have Rottler boring and honing machines for cylinder block boring and re-sleeving. We offer complete cylinder head and component rebuilding, surface grinding and hot tanking.

About the Opportunity

K.N.W. Diesel is currently seeking Certified and Apprentice Heavy Duty, Commercial Transport or Diesel Engine Mechanics to join our team in Surrey, BC

Spending most of your time in the shop, responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Engine overhauls and in frame overhauls
  • Tune-ups, injector changes, bearing roll ins
  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing engines
  • Servicing and maintaining equipment
  • Keeping service records

To qualify for this role, you must have current Diesel Engine and Electronic engine experience, including service and overhaul.

Our ideal candidate will possess a Journeyman certificate or equivalent years of experience, in either Diesel Engine, Heavy Duty, Commercial Transport or a related mechanical repair field. 

You will also possess:

  • A High School Diploma or General Equivalence Diploma
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Good communication skills, including the ability to work with peers and customers professionally
  • Flexibility and ability to perform a wide range of mechanical and electrical work needed on heavy
    vehicles.
  • Strong problem solving and computer skills.
  • Experience with Cummins, Caterpillar and Detroit Diesel engines (Asset)

Please note, Automotive Technicians will also be considered with apprenticeship credits offered for prior work.
