About the Opportunity

Moree Plains Shire Council now has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Technical Officer (Water and Sewer) to join their team in Moree, Northern NSW.

Reporting to the Water Services Manager this role will see you providing support and assistance with day to day maintenance, supervision and running of Council's Water and Sewerage reticulation and treatment services. You will also provide assistance as required for sustainability of Council's Water and Sewer Infrastructure based upon agreed and funded community levels of service, minimum life cycle costs and acceptable risk.

More specifically, your key duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Providing technical and administrative support to the Water & Sewer Department to ensure that necessary operations and services are carried out efficiently and effectively;
  • Providing input to the the water and sewer investigations (eg water and sewer main replacement, leak detection program and CCTV work);
  • Assisting with the delivery of water and sewer's construction program; and
  • Assisting with the operation and maintenance of Council's water and sewer networks within budget.

About You

The ideal candidate for this position will be someone with a minimum of a Diploma in Engineering, Environmental Science or similar who holds some demonstrated experience in water/sewer and has an understanding of the role of engineering within a Local Government context.

However - Council will also consider recent graduates with no experience, providing they have obtained a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and can demonstrate the right aptitude and initiative required to be successful in the role. 

Importantly, you will have proven technical ability; computer proficiency; and high level of communication skills, including the ability to liaise with stakeholders from all different backgrounds and levels within Council. You will be extremely organised, with good time management skills and the ability to exercise judgment in the preparation of high quality documentation.

Please Note: This role requires that the successful applicant hold a current White Card and 'C' Class Drivers Licence and be happy to drive as part of the role which may include driving on remote, dirt roads.
