About the Organisation

Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation (Anyinginyi) is a multi-disciplinary organisation which provides primary health care services to the Aboriginal people of Tennant Creek and the surrounding Barkly region.

Anyinginyi consists of five different sections covering a wide array of services such as clinical care and social and emotional well being, health promotions, sports and active lifestyle and administrative services. This diversity allows for a holistic approach to health, ensuring that clients' physical and emotional health and well-being is given the utmost priority.

Anyinginyi health service delivery area stretches north of Tennant Creek to Elliott, across to the east, almost to the QLD border and south to Ali Curung - almost 150,000 square km.

About the Opportunity 

Anyinginyi has an exciting opportunity for an organised and meticulous Communicare & Data Support Officer to join the Corporate Services team in Tennant Creek, Northern Territory, on a full-time basis. This is a 2-year contract, renewable upon further funding.

Reporting to the Corporate Services Section Manager, you will primarily be responsible for overseeing, developing and maintaining all health-related databases within the organisation, including the enhancement of additional data systems for holistic organisational information evidence capture. This is mainly focused on the Client Patient Information and Recall Systems - PI&RS, referred to as Communicare.

More specifically, some of your key duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Providing advice to Management on IT holistic PI&RS maintenance and evidence recording enhancements;
  • Providing education, training and support in Communicare, Medicare and other PI&RS to respective colleagues required to access and utilise Anyingini Health's databases;
  • Developing and maintaining a comprehensive and up-to-date Communicare Manual which supports the use of the system by other staff members in your absence and ensure consistency of function and accuracy;
  • Monitoring and reviewing arising PI&RS policy, procedures, access determinations and forms for Users to maintain a confidential and patient respected PI&RS system; and
  • Auditing and assessing with the Continous Quality Improvement (CQI) Team, systems operations and improvement recommendations to management including auditing and maintaining data integrity.

About You

To be considered for this role, you must have demonstrated knowledge of the functionality of a PI&RS, such as Communicare, alongside well-developed computer and systems literacy.

Your understanding of the practices and principles of CQI and its implementation will be crucial to your success, as will your use of initiative, independent judgement, teamwork, leadership and flexibility. 

As you will be assisting doctors, GPs and clinical staff get up to speed while ensuring their data input is correct and all reports are substantiated with correct client information - attention to detail and well developed interpersonal and intercultural skills will be required.

A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and traditions, including sensitivity to values, beliefs, customs, language and traditional health practices, will be highly regarded.

The ideal applicant will combine a background in IT or Medical Technology with a proven ability to provide links between medical data, CQI and patient data in order to clearly and concisely report back to key stakeholders.

 Please note: Prior to commencement you will need to undergo a National Police Clearance and obtain a current Ochre Card. A Driver's License and the ability to drive to communities as required is also essential for this role.
