About the Opportunity

Hornibrook NGI now has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Steel Fabrication Estimator to join their team based in Lae, Papua New Guinea on a full time, 3-year fixed term contract with opportunities to extend for the right candidate.

Reporting to the Fabrication Divisional Manager, you will be responsible for leading and assisting the fabrication team in contracts and estimation of small to large scale projects.  

Some of your day to day responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Preparing and presenting estimates and quotations for steel fabrication work;
  • Providing expert steel business advice to the Divisional Manager to support the profitability of the division;
  • Training and mentoring estimators within the team;
  • Preparing costings for structural steel designs and drawings; and
  • Conducting market research into steel fabrication practices, processes and pricing.

About You

To be successful in this position you will need to have extensive estimating experience working on small to large scale projects. You will also hold a Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or Construction. Qualifications in project management or experience working within the Steel Fabrication industry would be held in high regard.

Hornibrook NGI is looking for people who have experience or a basic understanding of drafting software, specifically AutoCAD and Tekla. You will be adept at understanding and interpreting Structural and Mechanical drawings.

It is important that you exhibit excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills to ensure you are able to develop valuable business relationships with clients and locals.

Due to a more complex operating environment than those in a first world country, you will need to be highly organised and systematic with the ability to drive and motivate your team while fostering a positive team environment.

Please note: you will be provided with a vehicle for the duration of your contract and as such will need to hold a current manual drivers licence.
