About the Opportunity
Emmy Monash now has multiple opportunities for Personal Care Assistants to join their facility in Caulfield North in Melbourne's south eastern suburbs. These roles are being offered on a part-time basis (approximately 30 hours per week), covering Monday to Thursday AM shifts.
As a Personal Care Assistant, you will support the EEN Team Leader/Registered Nurse on shift to deliver a ranges of care services to the 150+ residents, including:
- Showering, dressing, grooming, care of clothing and room tidying;
- Toileting and mobility assistance;
- Assistance with meals, morning/afternoon tea and supper;
- Assisting residents to attend leisure activities, including those of the Supported Activity Program; and
- Administration of medication as per medication competency.
To be considered for one of these positions you will hold a minimum of a Certificate III in Aged Care and have at least 12 months demonstrated experience in a similar role. Any experience with dementia care will be a plus!
An existing understanding of the Jewish culture and/or the ability to communicate in Yiddish, Polish or German would also be an advantage, but is not mandatory as long as you can demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural diversity, religious needs and life experiences of older Jewish people.
Importantly, you will display maturity, professionalism and an empathetic and patient manner, with the ability to confidently discuss resident needs with family, other carers and the residents themselves. You will have a 'resident-focused' approach to care, be self-directed and have computer literacy at a level expected for this type of role.
This role would be well-suited to energetic, personable individuals who are wanting more consistency in hours worked and a break from weekend/night shifts.
