Domestic Violence Action Centre (DVAC) is an independent provider of services to women, children and young people across Ipswich, Toowoomba and the surrounding area that have experienced domestic and family violence. About the Opportunity

DVAC now has an exciting and rewarding opportunity for an organised and autonomous Counselling Team Leader to join their Toowoomba team on a full-time basis.

You will primarily be responsible for independently overseeing and managing the Counselling services team, taking charge of all initiatives, human resources and service delivery, including Women's and Family Counselling, Service Against Sexual Violence, and the Men's Behaviour Change Program.

Your day to day responsibilities will include, but not be limited to;

  • Oversight and continual development of quality practice, including active and creative problem solving, developing and maintaining initiatives and responding to gaps in service delivery;
  • Managing all human resources requirements of the team, including supervision requirements, recruitment, induction, supervision, reviews, ongoing professional development and staff well-being;
  • Ensuring that practice and performance adheres to relevant legislation, practice standards and reporting requirements, as well as DVAC policies, procedures and practice guidelines; and
  • Participating in the implementation of the strategic direction fo the organisation, including creating corresponding operational plans for relevant initiatives.

About You

To be considered for this position you must possess a relevant tertiary qualification alongside significant demonstrated experience in trauma-informed counselling frameworks and domestic violence work.

You will be an independent and driven leader with the initiative and organisational skills to effectively manage multiple competing demands. Your consultative leadership approach and strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills will be crucial to your success, as will your ability to creatively solve problems and adapt to change.

The ideal candidate will be able to effectively lead and manage the team while shaping the future direction of the counselling services and building positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

Please note: Prior to commencing you must hold or obtain a current Working With Children (Blue) Card, a current National Police check and a current, unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence.
