About your new role...

As a Tour Coordinator with Student Horizons, you will work within the busy operations department coordinating all the logistics and bookings for school group tours - everything from booking flights and accommodation, to ground transport, meals and activities. You will also act as the key point of contact for your client (i.e. School Teachers), communicating all critical dates and timeframes, from the time they have signed up for a tour, to the time they return.

The tours themselves are predominantly during school holiday periods and each Tour Coordinator can have anywhere up to 15 groups to coordinate over 2 years of departures. Tours have a sporting, educational, or music focus, and go all over the world, including the USA, Japan, Europe and the Pacific Islands. While you may be expected to coordinate a variety of tour types within the business, we are seeking a candidate who has an interest in the education sector. You will coordinate subject-based tours such as Classics & History tours to Europe, Performing Arts tours to New York City, and STEM/Technology tours to California and Singapore.

Can you see yourself organising multiple musical theatre workshops, researching Broadway shows and booking iconic sights such as the Statue of Liberty and Rockefeller Centre?  This could be one of your tours!

This is a full-time role based in our Brisbane Head Office. Tour Coordinators are not expected to travel with the tours, however if you are performing well and have an interest in joining the tours, Student Horizons will give you the opportunity to travel overseas with groups as a Student Horizons Representative. Meaning you will accompany the group to their tour destination and oversee all logistical arrangements. In addition, the organisation loves to match Representative employees with tours that suit their individual interests and skills so if you have a passion for the theatre then there is a good chance you will be assigned to travel with our Performing Arts tours! Or are you business minded, a tour with a business group to Silicon Valley could be better suited.

About You…

Behavioural fit and a great attitude are going to be the determining factors of your success in this role. No experience or qualifications are required, however previous experience with the travel industry, group tours or educational travel, will be highly regarded. You will also have a real passion for the benefits of travel, a good general knowledge of the world, and a dedication to ensuring that students have safe and unforgettable experiences.

This is a highly operational and logistically focused role, requiring you to juggle multiple deadlines, tours and stakeholders at any given time. You MUST be extremely organised and have a high attention to detail to ensure nothing falls through the cracks. You will be adept at working within a budget, negotiating with suppliers to ensure the best and safest service offering at the most competitive price, and you will have a customer-service focus, ensuring you are in constant communication with your clients to keep them up-to-date with booking confirmations and tour details.

About the Benefits

Student Horizons is offering the successful candidate a base salary of $42,000 (negotiable depending on skills and experience) plus super. You will undergo a two-week induction on commencement and full training on internal processes and systems.

You will have the opportunity to coordinate tours based on your individual passions in the sporting, music or educational spaces and high performers also have the opportunity to attend tours located all over the world!
