Your New Career

Macfarlane Generators now has an opportunity for a full-time Small Engine Mechanic to join their busy team in Clayton South, Melbourne.

This position is primarily responsible for the pre-delivery, servicing and testing of petrol and diesel powered small engine generator equipment, as well as repair and refurbishment work.

Some of your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Assisting the Workshop Manager with small engine service and repair work;
  • Preparing appropriate paperwork, such as time sheets, job sheets, check sheets and load test sheets, in an accurate manner;
  • Maintaining the small engine designated work area, company tools, and test equipment, and reporting any faults/breakages as required;
  • Complying with safe-work standards and carrying out all tasks in a safety conscious manner; and
  • Attending to onsite customer work and assisting with large generator repair work as required.

About You

As you will be working with both petrol and diesel engines in this role, it is important you have strong mechanical knowledge and diagnostic skills, along with a basic understanding of electrical power. Completion of a mechanical apprenticeship or similar qualifications/experience will be required, while power generation experience would be an advantage.

Macfarlane Generators is seeking candidates who are well presented and who possess excellent communication skills. Critical to your success will be strong product knowledge and the ability to effectively converse with both team members and customers in layman's terms regarding diagnostics, servicing and repair.

A current manual Driver's License is a requirement of this position.
