About Lara Aged Care
Newly refurbished, Lara Aged Care provides luxury accommodation for a small community of just 64 residents seeking residential care at all levels in a safe and supportive environment.
Located in Dungog - a little over an hour from Newcastle - at the foot of the beautiful Barrington Tops, residents and staff members enjoy the magnificent views from the facility.
With a dedicated dementia wing, Lara Aged Care is passionate about taking a more holistic approach to caring for residents suffering from dementia and have recently implemented a new program related to this within the facility.
About the Opportunity
Due to continued growth, Lara Aged Care is looking for a passionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join their supportive team based in Dungog, working 12-hour shifts on a casual basis participating in the staff roster.
While this is initially being offered as a casual position, there is potential scope (though not guaranteed) for permanent employment to be offered in the future.
Your main focus and responsibility in this role will be to ensure high-quality care and services are delivered to residents that are in line with resident and family values and perceptions.
This will be achieved in the following ways (but not limited to):
- Completing shift handover and identifying any new residents or residents whose clinical status may have altered;
- Ensuring all appropriate documentation is being completed while overseeing and/or undertaking medical rounds;
- Reviewing all documentation that has been completed since last shift worked;
- Following up on all outstanding clinical issues as required;
- Assessing documentation of wound management and updating it as changes are noted; and
- Supervising and assisting care staff to ensure an acceptable and appropriate standard of care for the residents is maintained.

About You
To be successful, you will be a qualified Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration in addition to experience working in Aged Care.
There will be opportunities for career development and progression for candidates who exhibit natural leadership abilities. Any experience leading or supervising a team will be viewed favourably.
This position will suit someone who has strong clinical knowledge, who also has a good understanding and ability to identify situations in which a more holistic approach may be appropriate.
