About the Opportunity

Caringa now has a rewarding opportunity for a Registered Psychologist or Registered Behaviour Support Practitioner to join its team on a full-time basis. Candidates can be based in either Grafton or Coffs Harbour however, must be willing to travel across the two areas.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), your focus in this role will be to provide behavioural and psychological supports to NDIS clients, their support workers and caregivers and to other relevant stakeholder organisations.

This will be achieved by applying your psychological expertise in assessing, treating and consulting on emotional, mental, developmental or behavioural difficulties.

Some of your key duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Providing a high level of appropriate skilled clinical assessment and interventions across Caringa’s NDIS services;
  • Exercising independent professional judgement in solving problems and managing cases where principles, procedures and techniques require expansion, adaptation and modification;
  • Delivering intensive support and management planning to support staff to assist in the ongoing care of participants with complex needs;
  • Engaging in formal education around client behaviour support and psycho-social issues to support staff; and
  • Consulting and liaising with tertiary health and community agencies/ groups to develop relationships for service delivery activities.

About You

To be considered for this position you will be a degree qualified Psychologist and hold current registration with AHPRA.

You must also have (or be willing to obtain) registration with the Psychology Board of Australia and be approved to provide services by Medicare Australia and private health insurers. 

Your ability to provide support and training in behavioural interventions to a broad range of contacts such as support workers, external organisations, caregivers and families will be pivotal to your success in this role.

Importantly, Caringa is looking for a client focused individual who is able to work autonomously as well as part of a team and can work flexibly when required. You will need to have exceptional written and oral communication skills and establish and grow strong relationships with clients, other staff members and external contacts with ease.

While not essential, any experience with behavioural assessments and Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) as well as experience working with people with intellectual disabilities in a variety of settings will be held in high regard.
