St Vincent's Private Hospital Northside (formerly Holy Spirit Northside Private Hospital) is based in Chermside, and provides comprehensive inpatient and day services across a broad range of medical and surgical disciplines. 

About the Opportunities

St Vincent’s Health Australia now has multiple opportunities for Clinical Nurses (Education) to join their team in Chermside, Brisbane. These positions are being offered on a part-time (0.5 FTE) basis. Roles are currently available in the following disciplines: 

St Vincent's Private Hospital Northside - Chermside

  • Oncology
  • Medical Surgical Paediatrics
  • Orthopaedics & Neurology

Shift times are 6:30am - 3:00pm, and 1:15pm - 9:00pm. Ideally candidates will have availability during these times, however there is flexibility available regarding days to suit your needs.

Reporting to the Clinical Education Manager, these positions are primarily responsible for supporting the development of skills and knowledge of clinical staff, including nursing graduates and students, to ensure the provision of excellent quality care.

More specifically, some of your day to day duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Designing, delivering and evaluating relevant education to staff members relating to clinical skills, anatomy and physiology, and direct nursing care;
  • Conducting regular Learning Needs Analysis (LNA) for ward staff, and developing appropriate learning strategies to address identified deficits;
  • Monitoring clinical staff learning, mandatory training, and competency completion using the organisation's Learning Management System, and facilitating required learning activities; and
  • Facilitating and coordinating learning opportunities for nursing students, including appropriate staff placement in conjunction with hospital allocated student facilitators.

About You

In order to be successful, it is essential you possess the following:

  • A minimum Cert IV in Training and Assessment (a higher qualification in education will be viewed favourably)
  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent tertiary qualifications
  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
  • Sound theoretical and working knowledge of adult learning principles
  • Experience related to the area of expertise in line with the position you are applying for

Key to your success will be experience in nursing education, with the ability to utilise your knowledge base in a way that optimises the performance of other staff members in terms of care provision. You will have a background in applying your education expertise to the workplace, with demonstrated outcomes.

St Vincent’s Health Australia is seeking applications from individuals with excellent organisational, time management and communication skills. You will be skilled in working both autonomously as well as part of a collaborative team.

The ability to effectively engage with people from a variety of backgrounds will be imperative, as will patience and the ability to act as a champion of positive change.

Although not required, previous management or supervisory experience and/or postgraduate qualifications related to clinical teaching / the facilitation of adult learning, would be advantageous.
