About BMI Group

BMI Group is a family-owned company which currently operates facilities across South East Queensland providing recycling, waste transfer and landfill activities.

Resource recovery is focused on the separation of concrete, steel and timber from the waste stream to minimise waste to landfill and maximise recyclables. We also provide a broad range of quality recycled concrete products for use in the building, landscaping and civil construction industries, which are available from pick up or delivery from select sites. Our locations include Acacia Ridge, Hendra, Mt Gravatt East, Stapylton and Redbank Plains.

About the Opportunity

BMI Group is currently seeking an enthusiastic Safety Advisor to join their team on a full-time basis, based in Acacia Ridge, Brisbane.

Reporting to the General Manager, in this role you will be working as part of the Resource Recovery team to develop, implement, assess and review the comprehensive occupational, health and safety management plan which emphasises safety in the workplace. 

In addition, your day to day responsibilities may include (but will not be limited to):

  • Contributing to the organisational goal of Best Practice Health and Safety management;
  • Developing training programs on health and safety issues;
  • Maintaining a register of accidents and injuries and providing an analysis of these to the Health and Safety Committee meetings;
  • Developing and maintaining the organisations OH&S systems through monitoring and assessing health and safety strategies and assisting managers to implement new initiatives; and
  • Coordinating research, development and implementation of policies, procedures and work instructions.

About You

To be successful you will need to have current OH&S certification in addition to experience working in a similar position. Experience in high-risk activity, crushing, waste or earthmoving will be a distinct advantage.

You will need to exhibit a genuine interest in and understanding of Health and Safety issues and ensure you are always kept up to date with relevant legislation.

It is important that you are able to build strong working relationships with colleagues and other stakeholders and are able to communicate effectively and efficiently at all times.

Due to the nature of the role, you will be required to travel to sites as required, as such you must hold a current unrestricted drivers licence and ensure that you are always professionally presented.

About the Benefits

For your hard work and dedication, you will receive an attractive remuneration package circa $70,000 - $90,000 (commensurate with skills and experience) inclusive of super.

You will also be given the tools of the trade you need to get started including phone, laptop and tolls all covered by the company. A car allowance may also be negotiated for the right candidate if required.
