About the Opportunity

Balco Australia is seeking a mature and experienced Site Manager to take on this hands-on role based in Brookton, just over one hour east of Perth, WA.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this diverse role is responsible for ensuring the achievement of production, cost and quality targets across all Balco production facilities

You will also be responsible for securing the supply of hay and straw in line with corporate procurement plans by building and maintaining effective relationships with growers to promote Balco as the preferred customer for the product.

More specifically, this will include (but may not be limited to):

  • Working closely with growers to identify areas in which Balco can add value;
  • Collecting and providing accurate information about grower needs, trends, issues and concerns into the team’s planning and response processes;
  • Conducting regular on-farm inspections and product tests throughout the product life cycle;
  • Liaising and negotiating with growers to gain commitment to grow hay and supply to Balco;
  • Contributing to the management and development of the business as a whole; and
  • Working with growers to understand their needs and concerns to enable the development of attractive terms and price guidelines;

About You

To be successful, you will hold qualifications within a management discipline (i.e. Cert Diploma in Business, Cert 4 in Training and Assessment, or equivalent). Due to the nature of the role, it is also important you have an understanding of biosecurity as it relates to an export business, alongside familiarity with DAFF requirements.

You will have significant experience leading and developing high-performance teams, along with a demonstrated ability to interact at a high level with key decision makers from a variety of professional backgrounds. 

Strong communication, negotiation and relationship management skills will be integral to your success, as you work with a wide variety of growers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Balco Australia is looking for a resilient individual who is highly organised and able to make sound decisions on the fly and adapt well to changing circumstances. 

Additionally, you will consider yourself an analytical and strategic thinker, who's has the ability to work autonomously and with flexibility. 

Experience in the agricultural industry would be highly regarded.
