About the Organisation

The Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO) is the peak body for the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people living in Victoria and is a centre of expertise, policy advice, training, innovation and leadership.

VACCHO is entering a new exciting chapter of its existence, experiencing growth and change in a significant time of self-determination and Community Control. VACCHO advocates for strength-based approaches to improving the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal people.

As a result of this change, the organisation has created four new Executive Director roles to lead and drive a stronger presence helping the community, and leading the state in improving Aboriginal Health.

About the Opportunity

The Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO) now has a rewarding opportunity for an Executive Director – Corporate Services to join the Corporate Services Unit based in Collingwood, Melbourne. This position is offered on a full-time, 3-year contract basis with the possibility for renewal. 

The Corporate Services Unit encompasses the Finance, Operations/Administration, Quality and Risk, Communications, ICT, Shared Business Services and Executive support departments.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), your focus in this role is to drive innovation in corporate services, lead key redevelopment and change projects and deliver quality services across the range of functions support and assist internal and external clients and business partners, including VACCHO member services.

Some of your more specific duties may include (but will not be limited to):

  • Directing the overall responsibility and monitoring of Corporate Services;
  • Providing high-level strategic advice to the COO, CEO and Board in relation to corporate services;
  • Overseeing the development and implementation of various strategies;
  • Ensuring compliance with all Government, Corporate and Statutory responsibilities, including managing financial and management accounting;
  • Developing accounting policies and procedures, and monitoring all internal and external reporting requirements; and
  • Assisting managers on all matters of finance for their respective units including budgeting and project management.

About You

To be successful in this role, you must have experience at a senior level in any of the following corporate functions; Financial Management; Information Technology and Systems; Information Management; Property and Contract Management; and/or Risk Management and Compliance. 

In addition to your thorough understanding and knowledge of Corporate Services, you will have excellent people management skills and have tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Finance, Accounting or Business Studies

You must have exceptional interpersonal communication and negotiation skills including the ability to liaise effectively with funding bodies, government departments and other key stakeholders. Your management experience in ensuring effective service delivery, staff capacity building and creating and maintaining an effective and highly motivated team will be integral to your success.

Please note: It is a requirement that all VACCHO employees undergo a National Police Clearance Check prior to commencement.

The remuneration package for this position is set between $140,000-$150,000 + super, commensurate with the skills and experience that you are bringing to the role.

Located on Sackville Street in Collingwood, the VACCHO office is a close walk to Victoria Park station and tram stops as well as the cafes and great coffee spots on Smith Street and Brunswick Street.
