Are you ready for your next adventure?

Strelley Community School now has an exciting opportunity for a High School Teacher and Partner to join their dedicated team in Warralong, WA. These roles are being offered on a full-time basis.

Reporting to the Principal, the School Teacher(s) will be responsible for teaching secondary school students across the curriculum with a focus on numeracy and literacy.

In addition to regular classroom teaching responsibilities, you will also take part in the Healthy Living Program, which ensures students receive basic needs care such as breakfast and morning tea each day.

Who Strelley are looking for

At least one of the pair of candidates will need to be qualified Teacher, with WA Teacher Registration (or ability to obtain) and demonstrated post-graduate teaching experience. Given the remote location and community, experience working in a remote environment and/or with ESL/CALD/overseas students will be highly regarded.

If one individual does not hold a degree in Education but has experience in tutoring, administration or health background and can offer support across the school, Strelley will still consider your application.

These positions will be well suited to flexible and personable teachers/individuals who can adapt to changing circumstances. Your communication and interpersonal skills will allow you to build strong relationships with children and parents in the community.

You will be kind, respectful, and confident in your teaching abilities. Someone who is accepting, inclusive and willing to go with the flow will succeed here, rather than using an authoritative approach.

Importantly, Strelley Community School is looking for Teachers with a passion for Indigenous education, a willingness and desire to teach to the needs of individual students, and a genuine desire to live and work in the region.

Please Note: Warralong is a dry community and both the school and provided housing is smoke-free.

Be Rewarded

This is a rare opportunity to live and work in a remote Indigenous community. While this lifestyle is not for everyone, for those that are truly open and committed to the opportunity, you will be offered a life-changing experience in which you will see the direct, positive impact you are making to the lives of children in the community.

In return for your hard work and dedication, the role of High School Teacher/s will receive a competitive salary in line with the WA Government School Scale from $78,000 - $99,000 (depending on qualifications and experience) and circa $70,000 for a non-teaching position (depending on skills).

In addition, you will both have access to a range of benefits, including:

  • Remote location allowance;
  • Furnished accommodation with utilities;
  • Relocation assistance; and
  • Repatriation assistance.
