About the Opportunity

Social Futures is a NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) Partner delivering the NDIS Local Area Coordination (LAC) Services in the community. The Inclusion Branch provides services for people with disability and their support networks through delivery of the best possible NDIS to NDIS participants, families and the community.

Social Futures has an exciting opportunity available for a Manager, Capacity Building & Engagement (Local Area Coordination) to join their team in Tweed Heads. While Tweed Heads is the preferred location for this role, there are options to work from Lismore, Orange, Dubbo, or Bathurst. 

Reporting to the Executive Manager - Inclusion, the primary focus of this position is to build the capacity of community groups, organisations and other social structures to include people with disabilities in all aspects of community life, and to develop and ensure accessible, accurate and timely information on LAC services and how to access services.

More specifically, day to day responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and leading the implementation of proactive capacity building and community engagement strategies based on global research, evidence and emerging trends in innovation.
  • Facilitating integrated, local community planning and implementation of a range of capacity building, awareness, information and education activities.
  • Leading engagement and planning strategies for people with disability and their families, NDIS stakeholder organisations and broader community organisations.
  • Providing effective leadership to the regional Community Development Coordinators.
  • Managing, monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of capacity building and community engagement strategies and activities within each local area, adjusting plans to meet KPIs that evolve with NDIS requirements.

In this position the successful candidate will have two direct reports (Community Development Coordinators). This is likely to increase over the next 12 months.

About You

The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of NDIS legislation, frameworks, guidelines and implementation program.

Social Futures is seeking a strong leader, with experience heading up a small team, as well as a background in influencing and motivating people who are not necessarily direct reports, in order to achieve common goals. The role requires a driven individual who can embrace and deal with change whilst maintaining a high level of attention to detail at all times.

Qualifications in community development, health promotion, social planning or a similar area will be highly regarded, but are not essential.
