About Bulgarr Ngaru

Bulgarr Ngaru Medical Aboriginal Corporation is a community controlled Aboriginal Health Service providing a full range of general practice and primary health care services. Bulgarr Ngaru was established in Grafton in 1990 to provide Health Services to the Aboriginal communities of the Clarence Valley as a result of a Human Rights report on Aboriginal miners' exposure to Asbestos.

The Bulgarr Ngaru team is made up of more than 80 people including health professionals, clerical, and managerial staff. The organisation is a leading employer of Indigenous people in the primary health sector in the region. Clinics operate in Casino, Grafton, Maclean and Tweed Heads.

About the Opportunity

Bulgarr Ngaru is looking for a full-time Practice Manager to join the team in Casino.

Reporting to the Executive Officer, you'll responsible for the overall management of the delivery of efficient and effective comprehensive primary health care services in the BNMAC Casino clinic. The scope of the position includes business planning, administration, financial management, leadership, and oversight of health service quality and safety.

The purpose of this role is to ensure the smooth running of the practice on a day to day basis and to provide ongoing support to executive level management. This role also calls for superior communication skills in order to effectively maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

You will be leading an established team of dedicated and engaged individuals including nurses, receptionists, and transport drivers and working alongside a Program Coordinator and Senior Medical Officer.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing ongoing support to the EO, CEO and clinical practitioners on a daily basis
  • Overseeing and prioritising the workload of administrative staff within the team
  • Overseeing and reviewing the performance of staff
  • Supporting the Quality Improvement team to ensure the ongoing capabilities of BNMAC in maintaining the standards for both organisational and clinical practice accreditation
  • Supporting the accreditation process and liaising with outside services in relation to clinical accreditation of the practice
  • Coordinating and facilitating dissemination to staff members of knowledge regarding incentive payments and Medicare item numbers
  • Overseeing National KPI Reporting

To be considered, you'll have experience in managing a medical practice and will hold a tertiary qualification in Health Science, Health Administration or a related discipline.

Bulgarr Ngaru is looking for a proven leader with an understanding of human resources and financial management as well as a demonstrated track record in the successful management of the quality and accreditation process.

The ability to plan and organise teams that are consistent with the strategic direction of the organisation is also essential.

Your highly developed interpersonal skills will ensure your ability to build strong working relationships with team members, service providers, clients and other key stakeholders.
