About the Opportunity

Adept now has a full time opportunity for a Pressure Equipment Inspector to join their friendly team in Belmont North, Newcastle.

The main aim of this role is to conduct field inspections of pressure equipment (boilers and pressure vessels) at client premises, including factories, plant rooms, mines (open cut and/or underground) and outdoors. 

Reporting to the Field Manager, your key responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Inspecting and reporting on the safety and compliance to the Australian New Zealand Standards for Pressure Equipment, displaying a high degree of responsibility;
  • Completing comprehensive report writing for each inspection;
  • Remaining aware of WHS legislation and risk management at all times;
  • Adhering to correct technical procedures and document control; and
  • Attention to time management and costs incurred by the company.

About You

This is a challenging, hands-on role for someone with a background in engineering, boiler-making, mining, HVAC, refrigeration or similar to become an Inspector of pressure equipment.

Ideally, you will have proven experience in the maintenance, installation and operation of boilers and/or other pressure vessels and hold relevant qualifications in engineering, boiler-making or similar. Any training and/or qualifications in AICIP will be highly desired. Recent engineering graduates with tertiary level qualifications who don't have any relevant experience will also be considered. 

The successful candidate will possess an excellent command of the English language, with good negotiation, report writing and computer skills. You will be well versed in workplace health and safety procedures, with an understanding of plant and machinery and the ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations.

This role would be well-suited to someone who can think on their feet and can work efficiently when unsupervised. You will be a self starter with good time management skills, and the flexibility to travel away from home for up to two separate weeks in a month. Occasional weekend work may also be required, depending on client circumstances. All applicants require a current driver's licence.

Please note: The willingness/ability to work in a mining environment, is a mandatory requirement of this position. This includes open cut and underground, if and as required.
