About the Opportunity

GRG now has an opportunity for a Project Manager (Engineer) to join their team in Brisbane, working predominantly on-site and interfacing directly with an external client within the food industry. This is a full-time position, with some weekend and public holiday work required. 

You will be responsible for managing the full life-cycle of multiple projects, from conception to completion, delivering them on-time and within safety, cost, scheduling and quality requirements. Projects will vary according to the ongoing needs of the client, and may include anything across the full site activities and infrastructure including utilities upgrades, packaging, processing, warehousing, equipment and automation. Your key duties will include:

  • Establishing clear and achievable project scope, deliverables and objectives with the client;
  • Proactively progressing the initial project phase activities including scope development, planning, FEED and documentation, and project budgets and schedules;
  • Writing professional engineering reports, equipment specifications, tender documentation, and Capex business-case documents;
  • Aligning stake-holder expectations and site needs with project delivery;
  • Communicating project information, status and issues;
  • Project risk management including Risk Assessments and HAZOPs;
  • Overseeing and supervising contractors on-site during project installation works;
  • Cost tracking, project financial management and reporting throughout the project execution phase;
  • Coordinating and supporting commissioning, training, finalisation works and project closure.

About You

To be considered for this position you will have significant experience in food-processing or a related FMCG industry. You will hold a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or a similar degree in an engineering-related field.

Although you will have the support of other team members, GRG needs someone with proven project management experience, who is able to hit the ground running and work autonomously. You will be acting as the client's representative for on-site installation work, and as such will need to understand the engineering requirements of a variety of project types.

As the majority of your time will be spent on-site you will need excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt these skills to the needs of different stakeholders, being flexible enough to take direction or provide advice as needed. You will be representing GRG whilst liaising directly with clients, and as such will need exceptional personal presentation, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to uphold GRG's policies, procedures, and code of ethics.

You will also need strong technical writing skills, and experience with AutoCAD will be highly regarded.

You will have the experience and awareness needed to ensure all works carried out are compliant with relevant codes and standards, and have a commitment to workplace health and safety. Knowledge of Safety of Machinery AS 4024 will be highly regarded.
