About the Opportunity
The Shire of Wiluna now has an opportunity for a Roads Infrastructure Officer to join their team in Wiluna, WA on a full-time basis.
Reporting to the Works Supervisor, this is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for collecting road data and performing quality inspections and maintenance on roads within the Shire.
Some of your key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):
- Monitoring, collecting and reporting road data information including traffic counts, traffic signs, guideposts and inspections of road conditions;
- Performing maintenance of rural roads, including seal and pothole repairs, curb and channel replacement, and removal of traffic control devices;
- Maintaining of other infrastructure, including Wiluna Aerodrome;
- Driving, maintaining and servicing various plant as required;
- Reporting any faults or problems with equipment or items of plant to the Works Supervisor; and
- Maintaining a clean and safe work environment, including the safe keeping and maintenance of personal issue, tools, equipment and stores.
About You
This role would be well suited to a Plant Operator with experience in roads maintenance and tool equipment handling.
To be considered, you will hold a Certificate of Competence in Traffic Control. Although not essential, candidates who hold certificates of competency in skid steer, excavator or back hoe operation will be highly regarded.
You will be flexible and able to work autonomously when required, with a genuine interest in meeting goals and learning new skills.
In addition, you will have a strong understanding of OSH principles and procedures and enjoy working in a team environment.
It is essential that you have (or are willing to obtain) a White Card, a 'HR' or higher driver's license, Police Clearance, and Medical Certificate prior to commencing employment.

About the Shire of Wiluna
The Shire of Wiluna is a district comprising 182,156 square kilometres of predominantly desert and pastoral country which is situated deep in the beautiful but rugged the Murchison goldfields subregion of the boom state of Western Australia. As one of the more isolated local governments in the State, the Shire faces unique challenges and opportunities.
The Shire administration is based in the township of Wiluna, which is situated on the Goldfields Highway about 833kms from Perth. There are regular public transport flights from Perth three days per week and a direct sealed road link to Kalgoorlie which is 533kms away. Wiluna sits on the edge of the Western Desert and has a population of around 200 people, predominantly of Aboriginal descent. Although Wiluna is undeniably small and remote, it is a very liveable town offering good lifestyle opportunities and all the necessary local infrastructure, including a general store and post office, a primary school, a police station and a medical centre.
