These roles are initially being offered on a casual basis, with the option to move to permanent part-time. Morning, afternoon, evening and weekend shifts are available with flexibility offered around the number of hours/days/shifts you choose to work.

Reporting to the Clinical Nurse Consultant and Registered Nurse on staff, Personal Care Attendants provide a high-level of care to residents, assisting them with activities of daily living such as:

  • Assisting with personal hygiene requirements including bathing, toileting, dressing or undressing;

To be considered for one of these positions you will need to hold a Certificate III in Individual Support (previously referred to as the Certificate III in Aged Care or Disability Services) or similar, with a genuine desire to provide a positive, caring and engaging assistance and friendship to residents.

Ideally you will have at least some demonstrated experience (career or lived) in providing hands on aged care assistance, but St Joseph's is also open to speaking with recent graduates or people who are currently undertaking more advanced study (ie nursing) and looking for a position in aged care whilst they complete their qualifications.

You will be empathetic, with well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; be comfortable working autonomously; and have a sound understanding of work health and safety and food handling procedures. Prior to commencement you will be required to undertake a Criminal History check.
