About Lower Murray Water

Based in Mildura, VIC, Lower Murray Water (LMW) is dedicated to meeting the present and future needs of their customers and the community by providing reliable and secure water services to both urban and rural areas. 

Their area of operation extends from the South Australian border to the town of Kerang, VIC, taking in the municipalities of Mildura, Swan Hill, and Gannawarra. They are responsible for a wide variety of services, including the provision of urban water, wastewater, treatment and effluent disposal services. They also provide river quality water to stock and irrigation customers, and collect and dispose of subsurface irrigation drainage water. 

Servicing a population of approximately 50,000 - 60,000 people, the LMW team consists of around 200 permanent staff plus contractors when required, and together they deliver around $15 - $20 million worth of infrastructure each year.

About the Opportunity

Lower Murray Water  has an opportunity for an experienced and hands-on Manager Program Management to join their team on a full-time basis (5 year contract). You will be working from their head office in Mildura, VIC, with some travel to other offices or sites on an adhoc basis.

Reporting to the Executive Manager (Delivery) your main responsibilities will be to manage a team of people, contractors and the delivery of LMW's capital works program, including urban water and wastewater, and rural irrigation and drainage infrastructure.

More specifically, some of your key duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Ensuring allocated projects are planned, executed, and delivered on time and within budget;
  • Overseeing safety and investigating incidents as required, with support from the OHS coordinator;
  • Handing over completed construction works to the Operations team and ensuring they are involved with key decisions that may impact asset operational performance;
  • Ensuring compliance with project plan, construction, and quality standards;
  • Setting expectations, goals and KPI's for teams and self, and managing staff performance; and
  • Developing and maintaining close working relationships through regular communications with individuals and teams. 

About You

To be considered for this position you will have a qualification in Engineering, Project Management or Program Management, or have significant experience in a similar role.

Ideally, you will have experience and a detailed knowledge of water services, though any experience with civil, electrical or mechanical assets will be highly regarded.

LMW needs someone with a high-level of both written and oral communication skills, and the ability to negotiate effectively. You will have demonstrated experience in building and managing teams, and the strong interpersonal skills necessary to proactively resolve conflicts and manage difficult conversations. 

You will need to be comfortable and willing to be on the project sites when required, and be a driven individual with a passion for innovation and a commitment to your team and own personal development and career growth.

Due to the nature of this role you will require a current valid Driver's License.
