About the Opportunity

Liverpool Plains Shire Council has a newly created opportunity for a full-time Executive Manager - Corporate Governance to join their team in Quirindi, NSW. This is newly created opportunity, due to the recent restructuring of several departments.

Reporting to the General Manager, this varied position will see you responsible for leading the development and delivery of Council’s Corporate Services and meeting statutory obligations through strong leadership and engagement with key stakeholders and staff. 

More specifically, some of your duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Providing advice and leading the development of plans and strategies for Council's Corporate Services;
  • Developing and implementing strategies in line with the Community Strategic Plan, Delivery Plan, Operational Plan and annual budget;
  • Managing Council’s leases and licences, delegations, gifts and benefits register, and pecuniary interest disclosures.;
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring a range of strategies and plans to ensure a sustainable future for the organisation;
  • Providing a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers in accordance with Council’s Customer Service Standards;
  • Maintaining accurate records in accordance with Council's information management policies and statutory requirements; and
  • Managing the functions of Public Interest Disclosure, Code of Conduct Coordinator, Public Officer and Government Information Public Access Officer.

About You

The successful candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in a corporate governance or business management related discipline, or otherwise have significant demonstrated experience in this industry.

An excellent written and verbal communicator, you will have well developed interpersonal and influential skills, including the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of stakeholders.

It's important that you are a dynamic and strategy-focused leader, with a thorough understanding of relevant legislation. Demonstrated management experience in a complex and challenging organisation is essential, including developing and delivering corporate systems. Previous local government experience is highly desirable, although candidates with significant corporate governance or business experience will also be considered.

Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills, plus the ability to calmly manage a number of competing priorities will be critical to your success. You will also need demonstrated experience in the preparation and presentation of technical reports and submissions.

Most importantly, Council is seeking a motivated and articulate individual with a positive attitude and passion for constructive change.
