About the Organisation

About the Opportunity

Liverpool Plains Shire Council is now seeking a full-time Executive Manager - Finance to join their team in Quirindi, NSW.

Reporting to the General Manager, this varied position will see you responsible for leading the development and delivery of the finance unit's priorities in accordance with Council's Financial Management Plan and statutory obligations through strong leadership and engagement with key stakeholders and staff.

More specifically, some of your duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Managing coordinating and monitoring the allocation and utilisation of Council's financial resources;
  • Providing financial advisory services to all departments in relation to financial management policies and procedures, budget preparation and management;
  • Providing financial planning advice to support business units to achieve long term financial viability;
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring a range of strategies and plans to ensure a sustainable future for the organisation;
  • Maintaining accurate records in accordance with Council's information management policies and statutory requirements; and
  • Ensuring the development, maintenance, and implementation of financial planning, budgeting and reporting systems across all business units .

About You

The successful candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in accounting, business management, or a related discipline. An excellent communicator, you will have well developed interpersonal and influential skills, including the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of stakeholders.

It's important that you are a dynamic and forward-thinking leader, capable of motivating and developing an already strong team with a passion for innovation. Demonstrated management experience in a complex and challenging organisation is essential, including developing and delivering finance management, revenue management, and asset management. Previous local government experience is highly desirable, although candidates with significant senior finance experience will also be considered.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, plus the ability to calmly manage a number of competing priorities will be critical to your success. You will also ideally have experience using the Civica Authority financial system.

Most importantly, Council is seeking a motivated and trustworthy individual with a positive attitude and passion for constructive change.

Please Note: A current Driver's Licence is a requirement of this role.
