About the Organisation
Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation (Anyinginyi) is a multi-disciplinary organisation which provides primary health care services to the Aboriginal people of Tennant Creek and the surrounding Barkly region.
Anyinginyi consists of five different sections covering a wide array of services such as clinical care and social and emotional well being, health promotions, sports and active lifestyle and administrative services. This diversity allows for a holistic approach to health, ensuring that clients' physical and emotional health and well-being is given the utmost priority.
The Anyinginyi health service delivery area stretches north of Tennant Creek to Elliott, across to the east, almost to the QLD border and south to Ali Curung - almost 150,000 square km.

About the Opportunity
Anyinginyi has an exciting opportunity for a full-time New Directions - Project Officer to join their team in Tennant Creek, NT. This position is initially being offered on a 1-2 year contract basis, with the possibility of extension for the right person, subject to funding.
Reporting to the Public Health Section Manager and through to the General Manager, this role will see you engaging and supporting stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to prevent Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). Your actions will also aim to improve the support available for children with FASD and their families.
The Project Officer will support the following priority service area by:
- Increasing access to antenatal and postnatal care;
- Providing standard information about baby care;
- Providing practical advice and assistance with breastfeeding, nutrition and parenting;
- Monitoring developmental milestones, immunisation status and infections;
- Providing health checks and referrals to treatment for Indigenous children before starting school;
- Delivering culturally appropriate primary health care services, tailored to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people at all times;
- Identify and implement most relevant models of care and treatment as a multi-disciplinary team member;
- Monitoring and managing project risks, issues and status, preparing and/or co-ordinating updates to project status reports, risk and issues reports and registers; and
- Ensuring project adherence to agreed projects and program governance models and frameworks, timeframes, notify of deviations and suggest steps for resolution.

About You
To be considered for this position you will hold formal qualifications in Public Health, Health Promotion, Health Sciences, Project Management and/or demonstrated Project Management experience and expertise.
Key to your success will be an understanding of the primary health care system and issues relevant to closing the gap in health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, including the ability to communicate and support the delivery of culturally responsive programs and services.
Sound knowledge of a public health approach to the delivery of health promotion activities, including the use of principles of primary health care, community development and CQI will be essential. Anyinginyi is also seeking someone with an understanding of the national policy frameworks and tools for health promotion and disease prevention relevant to FASD delivery to remote Indigenous communities in the NT.
Additionally the candidate will demonstrate a high standard of interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including the ability to complete various official forms and letters on behalf of clients and enter accurate notes in client files
As well as, knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander culture and an understanding of the diverse circumstances and issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, particularly in the Barkly Region.
Please note: Prior to commencement you will need to undergo a National Police Clearance and obtain a current Ochre Card. A Driver's License and the ability to drive to communities as required, is also essential for this role.
