About the Opportunity

Hyden Engineering has recently purchased the Hosepower (QLD) operation in Emerald, QLD. Due to this, Hyden is entering an exciting growth phase and is now looking for a personable and motivated Technical Sales/Field Engineer to join their team on a full-time basis, based in Emerald, QLD.

Reporting to the Customer Support Manager, this is a sales-focused role that will see you responsible for generating new revenue, providing on-site technical assistance, and ensuring that customers receive the highest possible level of all-round service.

You will be required to undergo regular travel for face to face sales and technical support, and to provide hands-on assistance as required.

Some of your key day-to-day responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Providing regular, face-to-face and phone contact with customers and potential customers in accordance with the marketing plan and in accordance with your sales route;
  • Providing on-site technical support to rectify and diagnose product/system issues and to provide customers and team complete technical reassurance and solutions;
  • Providing on-site technical support to identify product specifications, to allow for accurate quotations;
  • Formulating quotations and detailed proposals for customers including technical sales presentations;
  • Ensuring that all customers experience support that exceeds their expectations;
  • Training customers on product operation, correct servicing & ensure customers gain optimal value from products and systems;
  • Setting up and maintaining customer records, including details of customer feedback on Hyden's product or service pricing, delivery, and quality;
  • Providing feedback on company products and providing upgrade proposals to management; and
  • Maintaining meticulous records, ensuring site sheets and service documentation is best in class.

About You

To be considered for this position you will have relevant experience in a mechanical fitter or engineering-related role, and significant experience in sales and/or marketing.

Importantly, Hyden is looking for an independent, personable individual with the technical knowledge, assertiveness and strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively manage and negotiate customer expectations. You will use this ability to identify new and appropriate sales opportunities and channels.

The successful candidate will have exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to learn Hyden's products, systems and processes quickly and confidently. You will also have reasonably high-level computer skills across Word, Excel and Project Planning software, and the ability to effectively present information to team members and clients alike.

Please note: While this role is mostly conducted on customer sites during normal day hours, you must have the flexibility and the willingness to handle any problems occurring out-of-hours and be prepared to stay in accommodation during scheduled sales runs and/or  jobs that occur over multiple days. A current, unrestricted manual Australian Driver's Licence is mandatory.
