About the Opportunity

Hornibrook NGI now has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Estimator to join their team in Papua New Guinea on a full-time basis.

Reporting to the Building Division Manager, you will be responsible for leading the Building Division Estimation Team in the preparation of quotes and tenders.  

Some of your day to day responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Autonomously managing the tendering process for all major tender submissions;
  • Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants for the preparation of quotes and tenders;
  • Managing, supervising and mentoring a small group of estimators within the team;
  • Developing estimates based on established ‘first principles' estimating system and protocol; and
  • Developing bills of quantities and materials list for procurement purposes, as required.

About You

To be successful in this position you will need to have extensive estimating experience, working on small to large scale projects. Whilst not essential, you will ideally also hold a Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction or similar.

It is important that you exhibit excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills to ensure you are able to develop valuable business relationships with clients and colleagues.

You will have a strong understanding of 'first principals' estimating and be confident using a range of computer software, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel, with an understanding of Microsoft Project or CostX software highly regarded.

Due to a more complex operating environment than those in a first world country, you will need to be highly organised and systematic with the ability to drive and motivate your team while fostering a positive team environment.

Please note: you will be provided with a vehicle for the duration of your contract and as such will need to hold a current manual drivers licence.
