About the Organisation

Anyinginyi Health Aboriginal Corporation (Anyinginyi) is a multi-disciplinary organisation which provides primary health care services to the Aboriginal people of Tennant Creek and the surrounding Barkly region.

Consisting of five different sections, Anyinginyi covers a wide array of services such as clinical care and social and emotional well being, health promotions, sports and active lifestyle and administrative services. This diversity allows for a holistic approach to health, ensuring that clients' physical and emotional health and well-being is given the utmost priority.

Anyinginyi health service delivery area stretches north of Tennant Creek to Elliott, across to the east, almost to the QLD border and south to Ali Curung - almost 150,000 square km.

About the Opportunity 

Due to continued growth, Anyinginyi has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Assistant Account to join their team in Tennant Creek, NT. This position is initially being offered on a 1-2 year contract basis, with likely extension for the right person, subject to funding. 

Reporting to the Public Finance Manager, this role will see you responsible for providing high level financial support to the Finance team and where instructed to the Section Managers. Your actions must pro-actively build the financial capacity of the organisation as well as the financial management skills of all Section Managers, external providers and employees who use our financial management programs.

More specifically, some of your key responsibilities will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Provide support and back up to Finance Officers to carry out account payable/receivable and payroll;
  • Over-see payroll process and reconciling payroll control account;
  • Processing and analyses of key financial documents including revenue, expenditures, and cash flows, and accounts in coordination with the Finance Manager;
  • Assisting Finance Manager and Grant Coordinator to prepare Financial Acquittals; and
  • Completing the ad-hoc projects for Organisational financial improvements and efficiencies.

About You

To be considered for this position you will have demonstrated ability and experience in the development, maintenance and implementation of budgets for a variety of different operational areas, as well as consolidated organisational wide budgets and cash flow forecasts as well as experience in the reporting of actual fund flows versus budgeted and any variances.

This as a prime opportunity for a recent graduate, with Organisational CPA mentoring provided.

You will have experience with computer based accounting programs and an advanced working knowledge of Excel.

The key to your success will be having the knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal societies and cultures and an understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander in contemporary Australian society.

Additionally, the successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to monitor progress and manage competing priorities in an effective manner.

Please note: Prior to commencement you will need to undergo a National Police Clearance and obtain a current Ochre Card. A Driver's License and the ability to drive to communities as required, is also essential for this role.
