About the Opportunity

Shaw Gidley has a new opportunity for an experienced Insolvency Accountant to join their team in Newcastle, NSW, on a full-time basis.

In this role you will be responsible for providing advice and assisting with the external administration of insolvent companies and individuals. Depending on your level of experience, there is an opportunity to take on a more senior role within the organisation as well.

Your key responsibilities will include: 

  • Developing and presenting sound, commercial recommendations and advice on asset realisation strategies;
  • Conducting timely income assessments, preparing basic reports to creditors, and inputting basic information into complex reports;
  • Investigating and determining the validity of creditor claims and proofs of debts submitted;
  • Liaising with a range of internal and external stakeholders including directors, clients, creditors, debtors, agents and financiers;
  • Identifying potentially voidable transactions and providing recommendations on proposed course of action; and
  • Monitoring junior staff and ensuring compliance with statutory deadlines.

About You

To be considered for this position you will hold a relevant degree and professional accounting qualification and/or the ARITA Advanced Certification (or equivalent international qualifications).

You will need at least 3 years of experience in insolvency accounting and have a solid understanding of insolvency law and administration, with advanced accounting knowledge and proficiency in relevant insolvency software, such as MYOB or CORE IPS.

Well developed communication and interpersonal skills will be essential, as will the ability to adapt to challenges or new responsibilities and effectively manage your time, with solid attention to detail and quality.

You will have demonstrated research and analytical skills, able to interpret and apply information and maintain a high level of confidentiality and integrity at all times.
